Jaisalmer tour packages, desert camps and taxi service
Jaisalmer sits at the western edge of the Thar Desert, roughly five hours by road from Jodhpur and ten from Jaipur. It is the only fort city in India where people still live inside the walls, and that is what makes a Jaisalmer tour package different from a normal Rajasthan itinerary — you are not walking through a monument, you are walking through a neighbourhood that happens to be 850 years old.
Desert camping at Sam Sand Dunes
Sam is about 40 km west of the city and is where almost every overnight desert experience happens. A standard Jaisalmer desert camp booking covers your tent, a sunset camel safari, jeep dune bashing, Rajasthani folk music and dance, dinner and breakfast. Tents range from swiss tents with attached bathrooms to 400 sq ft royal suites with air conditioning and a private verandah. If you would rather skip tents entirely, we set up open-air beds on the sand for a night under the stars.
Fort, havelis and the sights in town
One full day covers Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli, Gadisar Lake and the Jain temples inside the fort walls. Add a second day if you want Kuldhara, the abandoned village 18 km out, along with Khaba Fort and the Lodurva temples. Bada Bagh at sunset is worth the detour for the cenotaphs alone.
Getting around
Jaisalmer is walkable in the old town but nothing else is. Our taxi service in Jaisalmer covers railway station and airport pickups, full-day sightseeing, and the Jodhpur to Jaisalmer run, with vehicles from hatchbacks up to tempo travellers and a mini coach for larger groups. Every driver is one of ours, carries valid papers, and knows the desert roads after dark.
When to come
October to March is the window. Days sit in the low twenties and are comfortable for fort sightseeing, and desert nights are cool rather than cold — except December and January, which get properly cold after sunset, so bring layers. April to June is severe desert heat and we would honestly steer you away from full-day outdoor plans then. July and August bring a short, light monsoon that greens the scrub briefly.
Culture worth planning around
The Manganiar and Langa musicians of this region play kamaicha and khartal in a tradition passed down through families for generations, and a private sitting with them is nothing like a hotel performance. What is the best time to visit Jaisalmer?
October to March. Days are pleasant for fort sightseeing and safaris, and nights at the Sam Sand Dunes are cool. December and January get genuinely cold after dark, so pack layers. April to June is peak summer heat and best avoided for full-day outdoor plans.
How many days are enough for a Jaisalmer trip?
Two nights and three days covers it comfortably — one day for the fort and havelis, one for the desert safari and an overnight camp, plus a relaxed departure day. Three nights suits you better if you also want Kuldhara village, Khaba Fort or the Lodurva Jain temples.

How do I reach Jaisalmer from Jodhpur or Jaipur?
Jaisalmer is roughly a 5-hour drive from Jodhpur and about 10 hours from Jaipur. There are direct trains from Jodhpur, Jaipur and Delhi, and Jaisalmer Airport runs seasonal flights. We arrange Jodhpur to Jaisalmer transfers and station pickups as part of any package.
Is Jaisalmer safe for solo travellers and families?
Yes. It is one of Rajasthan’s more relaxed tourist cities and is widely considered safe for solo travellers, couples and families with children. Our camps are staffed overnight and every transfer uses a private vehicle with our own driver, never a shared pickup.
Do I have to pay in advance?
A small advance holds the booking, and the balance is settled when you arrive. You’ll get a full itinerary and an exact price before any money changes hands, and cancellations up to 48 hours before arrival are free.
